Baskets

These baskets are from the Northern Region of Ghana, West Africa. Bolga baskets are hand woven from scratch, with hand-picked and hand-dyed 'elephant grass', essentially dried-up grass that gains a straw-like texture over time. The entire body of the basket is solely elephant grass whereas the handle is finished with goatskin leather, which gives the basket a neat look, also allowing it to stay sturdy and durable. Bolga Baskets are natively used for market shopping. Over the years, we have seen these baskets evolve. People now use them not only for shopping but for style; handbags, household decoration, storage units, baby and pet carriers, amongst many more. Also, whatever listing you see is most likely going to be the only design/layout we have in stock since they are so unique.
